IPL Sixes Records You Should Know (in one IPL season)
The overall sixes count is not the only record worth looking at. Some players have also set big numbers in a single season or even in one innings.
Most Sixes in One IPL Season
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi holds the current record for the most sixes in a single IPL season. He hit 72 sixes in 2026, moving past Chris Gayle’s previous season record of 59 sixes in 2012.
| Record | Player | Sixes | Season |
| Most in a season | Vaibhav Sooryavanshi | 72 | 2026 |
| Previous record | Chris Gayle | 59 | 2012 |
Career Sixes vs Sixes Per Match
A player’s total sixes does not tell the whole story. A player who has played 250+ matches naturally has more opportunities than someone who has played around 100 matches.
This makes sixes per match another interesting way to look at IPL power-hitting.
| Player | Matches | Sixes | Sixes per Match |
| Chris Gayle | 142 | 357 | 2.51 |
| Andre Russell | 140 | 223 | 1.59 |
| Nicholas Pooran | 102 | 184 | 1.80 |
| AB de Villiers | 184 | 251 | 1.36 |
